There’s a pastor who is also a psychologist specializing in treating OCD.
You read that right. What seems a bizarre combo at its heart isn’t unusual at all. Sure, in all fairness, he is the only person I know who has that mix. But he’s not the only person by far with a mixture of deep faith, knowledge of God’s Word, active care for God’s people, and a particular focus on OCD.
Behind my mission are these three things:
- Give people hope.
- Connect people to others who share in this hope.
- Provide accountability and support to live into this hope.
That’s the heart of my clinical practice and my masterclass, Christians, Overcome Your OCD.
Watch a very special guest interview with my friend and mentor, Dr. Witzig, now on YouTube.
Here’s a little sample of his seven shifts to overcome OCD as a Christian. Check them out in full on his site or here:
From | To |
1. Faith is what I feel. | 1. Walking Faith: living into my beliefs. |
2. Taking medication may mask a spiritual problem. | 2. Medication may be one way God helps me overcome OCD. |
3. Perfectionism and All-or-Nothing Thinking. | 3. Growth is about progress not perfection. |
4. OCD is helping me to be spiritually safe. | 4. God desires that I break OCD rules in order to be free. |
5. I must continually analyze the past. | 5. Healing is in moving forward. |
6. Picturing God through the distorted lens of OCD. | 6. Viewing God without OCD’s distortion. |
7. I must prove to God (and myself) I don’t want these thoughts. | 7. God understands OCD and its treatment. |

My course includes examples from conversations with other clinicians and faith leaders throughout the years. There’s a special bonus interview with an esteemed Dallas pastor on his story with OCD and his heart for others.
Staying on the COYO newsletter will keep you updated on any additions. I also highly recommend subscribing to my Get Unstuck newsletter for my therapy practice and general advocacy. Any free resources and events that are not course-related are shared there.
